Dreams. Denials. Deferrals.

It’s 2 AM. You’re up again trying to make the product presentation just right. You’ve emailed your graphic designer 12 times to see if they can tweak one little thing, You’re trying to schedule a photo shoot to make sure that you give clients the best first look, but you can’t decide on a photographer. All the content you have seems rudimentary to you. You want to scrap it all but you want to keep it for representation of growth. You’re trying to build a solid clientle but you don’t wnat to seem like you are being greedy.

You’re stuck in between a rock and hard place and you want to give up.

Hebrews 12: 11 says ” No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

Sometimes you have so many periods of trials and tribulations when you’re trying to accomplish any dream that you may have. There are days, weeks or months that seem like you are not made for what you have set out to do. You’ve made a timeline, but everything is not going according to your plan. God’s plan is not your plan. When you start to lean into God’s word instead of the ways of the world, so many doors start to open. However, you must be humble, patient and persistent in order to gain the blessings that are already prepared for you. Every circumstance, obstacle and misstep is designed to align you with your purpose. I am not saying that this is a happy period within your life, but you must reflect on the lessons you have learned within this time.

I, too, experienced this season and some days, it seems like certain aspects of my life are still in this season of growth. As a May graduate, the most frequent question I get: “What are your plans after graduation?”. For a while, I wanted to be sarcastic and respond “well you won’t see me selling drugs or stripping if that’s what you’re worried about.” But I know my mom would probably hit me upside the head *shrugs*. I will say I accepted my first job offer in October; however, I ended up withdrawing my acceptance after much need prayer and guidance from my parentals.

My LSAT score was not the best either. But I made it through the test. (Thank God for that). But it taught me that no matter what, I will be okay. So my plans now? I am looking for full-time positions in the SE, but also submitting later law school applications later this month.

Georgia lost the SEC Championship too. That one still stings a bit but I have faith in Coach Smart and my Dawgs.

But the good has always outweighed the bad.

This semester accolades:

  • I accepted an on-campus internship in Development and Alumni Relations.
  • I (finally) became a Fall 2018 Initiate of the Eta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
  • I have launched my makeup services part-time in Athens and Atlanta.
  • I also have started helping others with organizing their life as well.

31- Eta Xi- Fall 2018 : TIM31ESS

We’re headed towards the end of the year but again, it’s not the end yet. There is so much that can still be done, but you have to be patient. Rome wasn’t built overnight and neither were you. So as we gear up for another calendar year, just remember to keep the faith and stay golden while doing it.

Side note: I feel like I should post this picture to show everyone that Madison is a giant and Adrienne is headed that way. But Dainyell and I are still the oldest.
